Presenting our Artists and their Work
Chaparral Artists is an active group of artists in Joshua Tree California. We were established in the late 1970's as a group of artists interested in promoting the arts in our area. We have artists that paint as a hobby and we have artists that professionally show their work. We have monthly demonstrations and two shows a year. We are members of the Morongo Basin Cultural Arts Council and participate in the Open Studio Tours each year.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year!
Cook book plans are moving ahead as a money earner to keep Chaparral moving ahead. Virginia Neal will show you our “Arts & Food” ideas at the January meeting.
We want to welcome new members Rita Gisclard and Maureen Petroff to Chaparral.
Your board wants to start 2009 with full committees. We need chairpersons for the Sunshine and Calendar committees and a Historian. The Sunshine committee keeps tract our home bound members and sends cards, while Calendar tracts our show schedules.
Speaking of shows, Nancy Miehle’s Tumbleweed show runs to January 17 when Shirley James take over. Shirley’s reception will be January 18. Barbara Matheney’s show at the 29 Palms City Hall continues until ______. Circles of Beauty (HDWD) showcases several of our artists as do Roadside Attraction, The Art Queen and the 29 Palms Gallery.
Congratulations to Kathleen Perry, who won Best of Show honors at the Morongo Art Coloney’s December show and to Ruth Hapsburg and Pat Harfield who placed first and second in the 2008 Christmas Card Contest.
A special thanks goes to Nancy and Bob Miehle for hosting our Christmas Party and to Mary Hopkins and Ron Churchwell who helped raise over $100 with the raffle and the Pig in the Poke at the party.
